Osteopathy is a health profession utilising hands to diagnose and treat a range of ailments and painful conditions. The treatment is based on the fact that good function and health depend on the skeleton, muscles, tendons, nervous system, circulatory system and connective tissue working well together. Osteopathy is suitable for patients of all ages (including infants).
We find the connection between the ailments, the body and the patient's everyday life. The osteopath will work with you to create a plan for your treatments, what you can expect and what you yourself must take responsibility for.
An osteopath always starts with a conversation about you and a thorough review of your medical history. This conversation lays the foundation for further investigations and individual treatment. All members of the Norwegian Osteopath Association are required by law to maintain confidentiality and keep records.
We always start with a clinical orthopaedic and neurological examination; we do this to make sure that there are no serious underlying issues (fractures, etc.). We will decide whether it is safe for us to treat you - and if there is reason to suspect an underlying illness, we will refer you to a specialist for further examination.
The body will constantly adapt to internal and external stress factors, both physical and mental. This means, among other things, that a malfunction somewhere can contribute to pain elsewhere.
